How are millennials affording their first homes? Tenants.

Michigan realtors are noticing a swift trend of Generation Z and millennial homebuyers looking for multi-unit homes as their first purchases. While a first home used to be a status symbol of privacy, space and independence, a first home now represents an appreciating asset for the generations geared to hustle.

 

Also in housing: The national housing market celebrated new data showing increases for new construction, easing a stubbornly tight inventory. Michigan’s new construction data, however, showed a decline.

Unprecedented month of poor air quality in Michigan from wildfire smoke

Never before: For the first time in the state’s history, a statewide air quality alert went out for smoke pollution. But this is not the only bad air record set this month. June 2023 brought a series of poor air quality firsts.

 

6 ways to reduce your emissions: Poor air quality across Michigan in recent weeks included both high ozone levels and wildfire smoke pollution. There are ways to limit one’s own air pollution emissions, particularly during poor air quality days.

10 road closures to watch for this week in Michigan

Be aware: The Michigan Department of Transportation has about 50 road and bridge projects that require lane closures scheduled this week following the extended Independence Day weekend.
