They are not "fake clinics," directors say.

The Freedom of Information Act is of vital importance for all of us. |
Every citizen deserves access to information about what our public officials are doing. That's why the Freedom of Information Act is so important. MLive teamed up with the Michigan Press Association yesterday to host a workshop on Michigan’s public records and open meetings laws, led by Attorney General Dana Nessel. It's part of a Michigan AG tradition that goes back 25 years.
“You should have the ability to know what’s going on with your tax dollars and inside the government bodies that represent you,” Nessel said during the workshop, which you can read all about here.

Michigan has about 100 pregnancy resource centers. They are not 'fake clinics,' directors say. |
What are pregnancy resource centers?Their faith-based missions are centered on women and children, but they help men too. Usually funded exclusively or mostly by donations, they offer free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds, counseling, parenting classes, support, and in some cases, prayer and spiritual guidance.
But they do not terminate pregnancies: They will refer clients for prenatal care and to adoption agencies and social service organizations or government programs, but never to abortion providers. You can read more about these centers here. More kids in foster care? If Michigan's 1931 abortion ban is reinstated, some experts say more kids could land in the state's overburdened foster system. |

Same old Lions? Dan Campbell says hearing the mantra 'fuels our fire.' |
A different den of Lions? The offseason hype surrounding the Detroit Lions doesn’t seem to be losing any steam, with the start of training camp still another week away. And coach Dan Campbell is optimistic. He really likes the roster. Campbell told Peter King: "Every time we hear the S-O-L, same old Lions, and all the stuff, I think it fuels our fire. We love it. I think that’s how we all feel. That’s how we all talk. That’s how we all think. There’s nothing fake about it."
Elsewhere in Detroit: Attention Red Wings fans, we have a projection of Detroit's season-opening line combinations. |
