| Megan Cardwell had struggled with alcohol for a long time when COVID-19 lockdowns began in Michigan. She had always wrestled with anxiety and often found herself turning to alcohol to numb it out. After lockdowns began, Cardwell found herself furloughed from her job as a medical assistant. Then, her unemployment was delayed. As her anxiety increased, so did her drinking. “If I wasn’t having anxiety, I was drunk and passed out,” Cardwell said. She is one of many women who struggled with alcohol use during the pandemic. | Naz Hillmon is headed to Atlanta. The Michigan star was taken by the Atlanta Dream with the 15th overall pick in Monday night’s WNBA draft, becoming the program’s highest draft pick ever. Hillmon became the first Wolverine drafted into the league since 2005 (Tabitha Pool) and seventh all time. She was one of 12 prospects who attended the draft, held at Spring Studios in New York, and took the stage to pose with commissioner Cathy Engelbert after getting selected. | If you want to finally see the Northern Lights, your chances are going to be increasing over the next several years. We are now heading into the peak of a solar cycle, which has more sunspots than in the early part of the cycle. Sunspots are the flare-ups on the sun’s surface. They shoot magnetic energy at Earth and can produce northern lights. The sunspot peak is currently forecast to occur in July 2025, with 115 sunspots expected that month.
