The restrictions, issued by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, went into effect today at 12:01 a.m. and the ban is set to last for three weeks. The dine-in restriction in one of a number of measures announced earlier this week aimed at limiting the spread of the coronavirus as cases surge in the state. In 2019, Michigan reported 18,264 gonorrhea infections. That annual number has already been surpassed as of Oct. 31, pointing to a 22% increase in reported gonorrhea infections for 2020, according to an MDHHS press release. The increase is even more worrisome for officials, who say actual cases this year are likely underreported due to less STD testing during the pandemic. Michigan is set for a 25-degree warm-up starting today. The most noticeable change will come tonight and tomorrow morning. Then, Friday is expected to be even warmer. Some areas of the state are forecast to flirt with the mid-60s. So it's good news in the temperature department.
