One secret of Michigan's relatively low COVID-19 rates: Less mobility compared to other states Michigan currently ranks 46th among the 50 states in new coronavirus cases, based on a seven-day average of cases per capita. Only Wyoming, North Dakota, Oregon and Hawaii rank lower. Google’s mobility data suggests one reason for that ranking: Michiganders have been staying home more and going out less than most Americans. The mask route was chosen for basketball but, so far, questions have arisen about how those masks are being worn by players and what is being done about violations. In the first week of games, players were seen with masks falling below their noses and mouths, which goes against CDC recommendations that masks should cover both the nose and the mouth to be effective. MORE Sure, some people consider today Mardi Gras. For others, it's Fat Tuesday. But if you live in Michigan, today is all about paczki. These delicious pastries are a Polish tradition that were imported to Michigan many moons ago. Your friends from other states might not know what a paczek is, but they are missing out in a big way.
