For the second year in a row, U.S. Census Bureau data showed that Flint is the poorest city of its size in the U.S. The Vehicle City is estimated to have nearly 39 percent of its residents living in poverty, including 60 percent of its children. The data did show some improvement for Flint year over year when comparing 2016 and 2017. However, with the population of the city decreasing, those with lower incomes are making up a larger percentage of the population.
