| A man who admitted conspiring to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said he hoped to die in an expected shootout with police. Kaleb Franks, 27, the second man to testify against former co-defendants, said Thursday that he was depressed after his mother, stepfather and stepbrother died. “I was hoping that I would be killed in the process … because I no longer wanted to live. … I was struggling financially, just wasn’t happy.” Franks is testifying against four men charged in the alleged kidnapping plot. | MLive Chief Meteorologist Mark Torregrossa has some less-than-springlike news for this weekend in Michigan: "This probably isn’t a forecast you want to hear for a late March weekend. It’s not a totally wintry weekend, but it’s close. Fortunately, we probably aren’t going to be faced with heavy accumulations of snow. Any snow will be a lake-effect snow, so the snow would be fairly isolated.
