Trump and Biden back-to-back visits show Michigan is still a 2020 battleground This week, both President Donald Trump and his Democratic opponent for the presidency, former Vice President Joe Biden, will visit Michigan. In-person visits are rare occurrences this year, when compared to 2016, since COVID-19 has changed the way candidates campaign. The fact that both men are traveling to our state this week proves that Michigan is still a battleground for November's election. Trump narrowly won Michigan in 2016, flipping the state red for the first presidential election since 1988. While Biden has led Trump in the polls this year, the race within the state is tightening and many are wondering if Trump could find a way to topple his challenger and snag a repeat win. A universal right to work remotely is one of the union’s demands. They also want childcare subsidies, unarming of the campus Division of Public Safety and Security and more. While the strike is approved through Friday, the union could vote for a continuation, if demands aren't met. That decision applies to both outdoor and indoor sports, the association announced Tuesday. The MHSAA is also seeking clarification from the state about the mask rule for athletes and whether or not it has exceptions. The MHSAA reports hearing from coaches of many sports about the mask rule. For instance, high school football coaches are trying to navigate how it’s supposed to work for their players to wear facial coverings under their helmets. The hub approach has been heavily criticized by many Republican lawmakers, who said actions by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer exacerbated the situation. But Michigan has fared better than other states.
