Vacation plans spoiled? Michiganders are spending that money exploring the great outdoors Did you buy an RV or a camper this summer? Do you know someone who has? And what have your summer trips consisted of this year? Have they involved Michigan's great outdoors? If so, you are part of this summer's vacation trend. With many traveling plans dashed for 2020, these warm-weather months have become a time for Michiganders to connect with nature. Luckily, our state is filled with gorgeous outdoor spaces to explore. Traverse City and the Upper Peninsula are seeing a surge of in-state travelers. Oh, and if you install pools or decks for a living, you've likely had a very busy summer outdoors too, since people are investing heavily in turning their yards into adventure spaces. MORE UM professors have 'no confidence' in school's plan to contain COVID-19 A group of University of Michigan professors and Ann Arbor community members gathered Wednesday on the school's campus. They were protesting the university's plan for reopening campus amid the coronavirus pandemic. The protest came one day after Michigan State University announced a switch to online learning for the fall semester, telling students to stay home instead of heading back to East Lansing. Nessel said she has decided to continue the effort because a "pinky swear" isn't a done deal -- how are we to know they will follow through? "I want an order from a court of law that says a couple things: one, that no further changes can be made until after the election, and two, that any changes that have already been made be rescinded," she said.
