What's the weather like this week? |
According to MLive's meteorologist Mark Torregrossa, after an absolutely lousy weekend for early June, we have a weather pattern change that will turn our weather hot. The hotter weather is going to come at us in two steps. Tuesday into Wednesday will add enough heat to warm Thursday into the 80s. After a round of thunderstorms late Thursday, the next wave of heating up will come over the weekend. By Sunday or next Monday we could have some areas of Michigan warming above 90 degrees. |

Great Lakes summer beach hazards: Hard-hitting waves, dangerous rip currents |
Be aware: The Great Lakes are a staple of Michigan summers. However, it is important to understand just how dangerous the Great Lakes can be, even with no visual warnings. Large waves, rip currents, and structural currents are all found in the lakes and are no match for even the most experienced swimmers. Here's how to stay safe. In Muskegon: Police believe a 21-year-old Ann Arbor man drowned off Pere Marquette Park on Saturday and they continue to look for him. According to Michigan State Police: Officials are searching for two fishermen after a 21-foot boat capsized in Lake Superior. Five people were on the boat when it sank near Second Sand Beach in Baraga County on June 8, but three of the people were rescued by another boat in the area. |

Jim Harbaugh lobbied for ‘coach-in-waiting’ title for Sherrone Moore at Michigan |
Worked his way up the ladder: Jim Harbaugh had been telling anyone who would listen for more than a year that the next head coach at Michigan was already on staff. And before he ultimately left for the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers in late-January, Harbaugh did his best to make sure his long-time assistant and offensive coordinator would be the next guy in line. New players: Drew Nichols, a 2025 three-star offensive lineman from Murrieta Valley High School in California, announced his verbal pledge to Michigan State. On the other side, Palatine (Ill.) four-star defensive lineman Jaylen Williams announced his commitment to the Wolverines. In the NFL: The Detroit Lions practice facility still exudes an upbeat atmosphere as they head into year four under head coach Dan Campbell. However, compared to last season, there's a noticeable shift towards a more business-like approach, a change confirmed by several players. |

Grand Island dinner, lunch cruises show off gorgeous views near Pictured Rocks |
A little secret: Because the area’s geology is the same as nearby Pictured Rocks, the much less-visited Grand Island sports the same gorgeous rock colors and views of Lake Superior. One cool way to see all that wild beauty is to book a lunch or dinner cruise around Grand Island. Speaking of the hot spot: Tours of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore’s iconic Au Sable Light Station will be free of charge every day this summer, according to a statement from the National Park Service. In the air: Yoga lovers, get ready to elevate your poses - and yourself. On weekends this summer, Boyne Mountain Resort is hosting Yoga in the Sky sessions on its famous SkyBridge attraction. |
