CrowdStrike executive accepts 'most epic fail' award in person

 

Tech firm's president said it was important to own huge blunder

 

You have to hand it to CrowdStrike. Rather than hide in the shadows over last month's disastrous global IT outage, an executive from the company showed up at an event to accept an award for “most epic fail.”

The gong that nobody ever wants to win was handed out at the annual Pwnie Awards at the DEF CON hacking conference, which recognize achievements — and major blunders — in the cybersecurity industry, PC Mag reported.

Google will reveal the Pixel 9 line of phones, Pixel Watch 3, and more

 

The highly anticipated Made by Google event is taking place today, and depending on when you’re reading this, it might have already happened!

Set to take the wraps off the Pixel 9 line of phones, the Pixel Watch 3, and plenty more, the Made by Google event kicks off at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET on Tuesday, August 13.

It's taking place at Google’s campus in Mountain View, California, and the event will be live streamed on Google’s website for everyone to enjoy. It will also be recorded and available to watch later on YouTube if you miss it.

Epson puts the spotlight on other projector makers' brightness claims

 

Changes will help shoppers make more informed choices

 

Epson recently succeeded in getting Formovie Tech to adopt a widely accepted standard for measuring brightness, leading the latter company to reduce the lumen rating for several of its projectors, Home Theater Review reported.

For example, the Formovie Theater projector has had its rating reduced from 2,800 lumens to 1,800 lumens, while the Formovie P1 is now at 250 lumens, down from 800 lumens.

These are big changes that will help shoppers to make more informed choices when looking for a new home projector. Epson’s action has also prompted at least seven other makers to reevaluate their brightness ratings ...

Netflix reportedly greenlights Ghostbusters animated series 

 

Elliott Kalan of The Daily Show/Mystery Science Theater 3000 is believed to be the show's writer and executive producer

 

Netflix has given the nod to the animated Ghostbusters series that was first announced two years ago, Variety reported, citing sources in the know.

“Exact plot details are still under wraps, but sources say the 3D animated series will be tonally in line with the recent Ghostbusters films,” the report said.

Sony Pictures Animation is behind the series, with Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan of Ghost Corps, Inc. on board as executive producers. Production will be handled by Netflix and Ghost Corps, Inc., which is based at Sony’s Columbia Pictures, Variety said ...

The upcoming Terminator survival game faces delay

 

Developers: more time is needed to 'realize our vision' for the game

 

Nacon has just announced that Terminator: Survivors' early access period has been delayed to 2025, Digital Trends reported.

The game had been expected to enter Steam early access on October 24, but the developers said in a statement posted to X (formerly Twitter) that more time is required “to realize our vision, and make sure to deliver the game that fits your expectations.”

It acknowledged that the news would come as a disappointment for those waiting, but said that they “want to do right by this universe, its fans, and our community,” adding: “In the long term, we believe this is the right call" ...
