Move-out Collections Promote Circularity at WashU

This past month, hordes of WashU students excitedly gathered in the Share Our Stuff (SOS) warehouse for a sustainable shopping spree. While the temperatures were high, the affordable furniture and other items seemed to be selling just as hot.

As many students recently graduated and prepped to move, stuff they no longer needed escaped the unethical—not to mention, smelly—dumpsters. Instead, they were organized for resale to other students in need of practicality and pizzazz for their new or existing dorms and apartments. In June, three successful SOS sales demonstrated the promise of the proposed program expansion, first established in 2010 as an initiative to minimize waste. More>>

WashU Swag Exchange Many offices use WashU branded swag as giveaways. Great news! You can now access branded swag through the university's property exchange program, WashU ReUse, to give brand new surplus swag a home. More>>

Violets and Climate Change In many Missouri lawns, a carpet of small purple or white violets is a sure sign of spring. Research from Matthew Austin, a postdoc with the Living Earth Collaborative at WashU, found how climate change is affecting violets. More>>

Park + Play: Vehicle Free Day July 17, 2 - 5 pm, Tower Grove Park
Visit Tower Grove Park during this Community Day event encouraging park goers to arrive via foot, bike, or other active mode. There will be several family-friendly activities to explore as well as live music, food and drinks. More>>
