Wells became a ground-breaking investigative journalist in the 1890s and exposed the domestic terrorism practiced by white supremacists, including lynching. Included in the documentary are Bryan Stevenson of the Equal Justice Initiative, historian David Blight, Nikole Hannah-Jones of the New York Times 1619 Project, and Wells biographer Paula Giddings.
