Dear , There are 384 people, in Rutherford County, listed as homeless according to our previous point-in-time homeless count. Over 150 included in that number had absolutely no place to call home. Today, Coldest Nights shelters are our closest solutions. This operation is designed to shelter men and women during the coldest nights of the year. The most important goal of the Murfreesboro Rescue Mission is to establish a full-time shelter in our community for homeless men, women, and women with children. This shelter will give them a place to stay while working on getting re-established in the community. MRM currently has two properties we are looking to purchase. Because you helped, we have been able to move closer to our goal. So far, you have helped us secure 75 % of the needed capital to close the contract on our first purchase. As we all continue to give, we believe we can achieve this goal before the end of this year. I am asking you to do two things; keep praying and please keep giving. Special thanks to all of you who participated in the June yard sale. This is our second time hosting this event. I am absolutely amazed at the help and support we got from those of you who donated and especially those of you who helped make the sale possible. Some of the workers included: Tiah (my wife), Lavonne, Shirley, Sallie, Mary and Wayne, Tammy and Tom and a host of others who donated time or items. We used the same formula as last year. We prayed and God blessed. Organized chaos is my favorite way to describe this event. People just seem to come from everywhere and as hectic as it got, our ladies did a fantastic job of making it work. Our first year, we raised a little over 1,000 dollars. This year, we raised over 2,500 for our programs. Please plan to attend our next fundraiser event featuring Alabama’s favorite sweetheart, Christian comedian Peppi Garrett. You will love Peppi. She is clean, family friendly and loves the Lord. She will be at Northside Baptist church located at 655 W. Thompson Lane. The event is set for, September 16 and will run from 6 to 8 p.m. The doors will open at 6 p.m. Door prizes will be given out and silent auction items will be available as well. Be sure and visit the tables of our sponsors. The event is free, with a love offering taken before Peppi comes out. |
