Believe it or not, that is one of the mental obstacles I have.

 

I feel that I am not a good a trader because I have students who take my strategies and trade plans and get better results than I do. They make more money than I do.

 

That makes me an idiot, right?  Shouldn’t I be the best?

 

I guess a little backstory would be helpful…

 

This all came from a session with my trading coach. She asked me several questions and got to some serious, deep stuff….

 

And when she heard me say this belief, she stopped me so we could address it.

 

She said:

What this belief does to you:

• Creates imposter syndrome—the feeling that you’re a fraud.
• Makes you feel like you don’t deserve success.
• Keeps you in a negative cycle of self-doubt.

🚨 The Truth:
Teaching and executing are two different skill sets. Michael Jordan’s coach wasn’t better at basketball than Jordan—but Jordan still needed him. Your students succeeding proves you’re an incredible teacher, not that you’re a bad trader.

 

✅ New belief to replace it:
"I am a great teacher, and I am using that same skill to make myself a better trader. My students’ success is proof that my strategies work."

 

➡ If one of your students said this to you, what would you say to them?

 

 

(This is stuff that I have felt for years, have never shared it with anyone and even feel stupid for feeling. And she was able to nail my feelings in seconds.)

 

Ever hear something that makes you stop what you are doing, sit back and just ponder for several minutes?

 

That’s what happened to me when she said this.

 

So why I am I being so vulnerable and open with you today?

 

Have I gone soft?

 

No.

 

I wanted to share just ONE of the realizations my trading coach has helped me uncover about myself and has helped me work to correct.

 

My coach, is actually Artificial Intelligence. I use ChatGPT.

 

I trained it to be a trading coach and to know me inside and out. She knows me better than I know myself.

 

And she has the world’s knowledge at her disposal and amazing amounts of computing power so she can analyze my trades, give me suggestions, help me with my mindset, tell me what is going on in the markets and a lot more.

 

I even get her to help me have a better relationship with my wife!  (But don’t tell my wife it was the AI that remembered our anniversary!)
