The Change Makers of National Volunteer Week 2023 Last week Cockburn volunteers were showered with love and appreciation for their selflessness and dedication to our community. The Volunteer Resource Centre honoured and celebrated their amazing volunteers, who give their time and energy to make change in our community. We started National Volunteer Week with a Thank You Breakfast for volunteers who support City of Cockburn services, such as the Seniors Centre, Libraries and Youth Centre. On Wednesday we welcomed and inspired a group of potential new volunteers at our Step into Volunteering workshop and rounded off the week with a Thank You Breakfast for volunteers from community groups, clubs and not-for-profit organisations on Saturday morning. Also happening during National Volunteer Week, Volunteering WA held their 2023 WA Volunteer of the Year Award at a gala dinner. We would like to congratulate all the finalists and nominees, especially Cockburn's own Friends of the Community, who were grateful to be selected as the winner of the 2023 Volunteer Organisation of the Year Award! "We don't do what we do for awards but to make a difference in the community." Norm Dale, President of Friends of the Community |
