The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) will hold a technical assistance webinar onJune 14, 2023, from 2 to 3 p.m. ET,for potential applicants who are interested in the funding opportunityResearch Network to Promote Multidisciplinary Mechanistic and Translational Studies of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) Pain (U24, Clinical Trial Optional). This funding opportunityaims to develop compelling research frameworks and model systems that will: support interdisciplinary collaborations; initiate pilot projects to test novel mechanistic hypotheses in high-priority research areas; and, develop novel technologies and methodologies to study pain in the organ(s) typically impacted by SCD. | May 2023 Clinical Digest There is reasonably good evidence that nasal irrigation with saline can be useful for relief of seasonal allergy symptoms. Other complementary practices frequently used for symptom relief, such as acupuncture, probiotics, or the herb butterbur, might be helpful. However, the scientific evidence on these practices is limited, conflicting, or demonstrates safety concerns of the therapies. More studies are needed before researchers can say whether these approaches are effective and safe for treating seasonal allergy symptoms. |

It can result in negative consequences, including reductions in childrens physical and psychosocial functioning and high health care use. The risk for continued pain and the impact of childhood chronic pain on health and development in adulthood are emerging areas of research. Psychological interventions delivered in childhood may help to prevent pain and disability and build resiliency across the lifespan. |
