In this edition, we want to share some exciting news with you: NDF has approved a booster grant to the Green and Resilient Debt Platform and the Mirova Gigaton Investment Vehicle achieved its first financial closing. We also suggest you note some important dates in your calendar. Deadlines are approaching for the EEP Africa open call for proposals and the Expressions of Interest in our project in Senegal. Also, the landmark event in circular economy is taking place at the end of May in Helsinki and of course also online. |
The Mirova Gigaton Investment Vehicle moves forward in accelerating clean energy transition The Mirova Gigaton Investment Vehicle achieves its very first financial closing, gathering key investors such as NDF, thus highlighting the importance of blended finance debt funds to tackle climate change. Mirova, the affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers dedicated to sustainable investment, supported by Mirova SunFunder East Africa Ltd as Investment Advisor, a wholly owned subsidiary based in Nairobi, announced that the Mirova Gigaton Investment Vehicle has raised USD 171 million for its first closing. The blended finance debt strategy aims to accelerate the clean energy transition in underserved and emerging markets in developing countries, with a strong focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. NDF is a key partner of the Mirova Gigaton Investment Vehicle, by investing USD 15 million out of the Fund’s current total of USD 171 million. |
NDF approves a grant to boost green bonds in Africa NDF has given a green light to support the design phase of the Green and Resilience Debt Platform with a booster grant of EUR 500,000 to address climate financing gaps in Africa. The new initiative aims to unlock climate finance through green bonds. “NDF is committed to supporting Sub-Saharan Africa in addressing climate change, and our aim is to allocate 60% of our financing to the region. We welcome the Green and Resilient Debt Platform as a new tool to unlock climate financing at scale. An impactful combination of support to investment readiness, financial de-risking together with technical assistance has the potential to engage the private sector in providing critical climate resilient solutions for the development of local and regional green debt ecosystems. We will continue to work with our partners to find the best synergies in this shared challenge,” said Karin Isaksson, Managing Director at NDF. |
