Connect with your neighbours this Neighbour Day
Neighbour Day is right around the corner… happening on Sunday 27 March.
The theme for 2022 is: Connecting communities for 20 years.
This nation-wide Day has been running since 2003, when it first encouraged people to “check on your neighbour!”. In the last few years, the pandemic has demonstrated how important relationships are with our neighbours while facing restrictions on daily life, social interaction and work. So Neighbour Day presents a great occasion to meet with our neighbours. Strike up a conversation and swap numbers for emergencies Organise a neighbourhood walk and talk Drop a friendly card in the mail Organise a get-together in a local park or front lawn Check in with your elderly neighbours Share fresh produce |

Disability Reference Group welcomes new members
Are you a Cockburn based resident with a disability? Are you interested in making Cockburn the best place to live, work and play for people with disability?
The Disability Reference Group (DRG) is welcoming new people to be part of the group to create positive change in our City. The DRG meets monthly and works with City of Cockburn staff to consult on matters concerning access and inclusion in the area. Members receive updates on City of Cockburn projects and have the opportunity to raise any issues to be followed up.

Harmony Week - everyone belongs
Harmony Week runs from 21-27 March to celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity. It's about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
Almost one-in-two Australian's were born overseas or have a parent who was. That makes for interesting conversations to find out about people's heritage. It's a great time to share stories and to travel the world with your taste-buds by supporting a local business or sharing cultural dishes.

Introducing Meeples, Decks & Dice
Meeples, Decks & Dice's is bringing like minded people together over the enjoyment of table top gaming with regular events and meets in the Cockburn area. The group is supported by its founding members who share their love (and collection) of games! They also have a library of games that have been donated or purchased available to loan to members and can be played at any MDD event. The meets cater for all-abilities and provide the chance for community members to forge new friendships and connections.
Originally getting together for fun under the name Beeliar Boardgamers with the support Beeliar Community Voice resident group, they have recently incorporated and are focussed on hosting more events and meets for members and general public.

| Alliance against depression A partnership of government, businesses, philanthropists and community service providers called the Imagined Futures Alliance Against Depression*, is spear-heading a local public awareness campaign designed to reduce stigma for people experiencing depression and encourage people to reach out for support. With COVID-19 now at our doorstep many people are feeling anxious and uncertain about the future but are unsure where, or if, they should seek help.

CoSafe - Keeping our Community Safe
Attending over 30,000 calls in 2021, CoSafe is a City-funded service that keeps our community safe. So how does CoSafe do this, and how can you help keep Cockburn safe?
If you see something, report it.
It’s a team effort between our community, CoSafe and WA Police. Our residents allow for more eyes on the street, so if you see something, report it: Anti-social or suspicious behaviour Vandalism Excessive noise on your street. In 2021 alone, CoSafe attended 1,450 calls about anti-social behaviour and nearly 1,200 for suspicious activities in Cockburn!
Register your home CCTV with WA Police
In addition to our state-of-the-art control room linked to a growing CCTV network and alert monitoring software, we encourage you to register your home CCTV with WA Police. If a situation unfolds, your home footage could assist in resolving the incident.
