Good morning Valued Subscriber,
A teenage boy has died more than seven months after a Barton Highway crash that also killed another teenager. Eleanor Campbell reports several MPs have had enough with heckling and "blokey" misbehaviour. Canberrans would be banned from installing new gas appliances from 2027 under a policy the ACT Greens will take to the territory election, Jasper Lindell reports. The party wants to speed up the capital's transition to net-zero emissions, pledging $88.5 million to fund gas-to-electric upgrades for 5000 low-income households and build more battery storage capacity.
Sri Lanka's government has defended the 65 cents an hour "slave-like" wage paid to a Canberra embassy worker, Tim Piccione reports. The government said the appalling pay was "mutually agreed". And employers who have been struggling to muster a strong field of candidates for jobs may soon benefit from a tightening jobs market, Brittney Levinson reports. As we move towards what will be an unseasonably warm weekend, today's top is expected to be 17 degrees. The Bureau of Meteorology says there's a 40 per cent chance of a shower.
