Police probe: Just hours after getting the formal nod to be New Orleans' new police chief, Anne Kirkpatrick announced an internal investigation into the department's response to an arson that killed three children earlier this week. It took 25 minutes for NOPD to respond after the children's mother called 911 to report that their father was threatening to burn down their house and she could hear them screaming on the phone. The father has been arrested and faces three counts of first-degree murder. Missy Wilkinson has the details. Legal troubles: Clifton Davis, the top aide to New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, allegedly misspent funds from clients as a private attorney and practiced law even when barred from doing so, according to charges filed by a state agency that oversees malfeasance by attorneys. Ben Myers reports that the charges include using funds held in private trusts to pay for a personal subscription to Hulu.Salt water preparations: Though the latest forecast suggests the salt water wedge in the Mississippi River won't be a concern for New Orleans or Jefferson Parish, suburban officials aren't taking any chances. Work continues on a pipeline to get clean water from upriver to Jefferson Parish intakes and the first tests could come in the next week, Marie Fazio reports.
