One of the things that makes sports fun — other than, for many of you, complaining about your fantasy football team, which doesn't seem much fun to me — is the debate. Who was the best this? The worst that? What about that play? That game? That call? Or, for Saints fans, that awful no call? Here's one for you: If LSU football had a Mount Rushmore, which four faces would be on it? Billy Cannon, of course. Like George Washington, he's virtually the father of modern LSU football. Joe Burrow, for sure. And now Jayden Daniels, joining the first two as the Tigers' Heisman Trophy winners. The fourth? Nick Saban, Tyrann Mathieu, Glenn Dorsey, Paul Dietzel, Tommy Casanova ... take your pick. Back to Daniels. Though we still don't know whether he will play or not in LSU's Jan. 1 ReliaQuest Bowl game against Wisconsin in Tampa, we can start to explore what his legacy might be. And where it goes from here. For certain, he's now a top-shelf LSU legend along with Cannon and Burrow. But ulimately, that's all meaningless conjecture. Daniels' real legacy may be the influence he has on future quarterbacks to come to LSU, which now with two Heisman winners in five years has to be viewed in a very different light from how it was viewed before Burrow's arrival in 2018. As we await a dwindling but still important few events on the football calendar — the unveiling Wednesday of SEC football game dates, the first national signing day (Dec. 20) and Daniels' decision — the volume turns up more and more on the winter/spring sports. LSU women's basketball — 9-1 and still No. 7 in the AP poll — returns to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the PMAC against McNeese State. No, Will Wade will not be there. Neither will Kateri Poole, the now former LSU guard freshly dismissed from the program. Our Reed Darcey dives into what her depature means for this LSU team going forward. Also, recently reinstated LSU basketball star Angel Reese had a message for her friend and former teammate. Read about it right here. That's all for today, folks. Short and sweet.
