chThe Diocese of Ely is encouraging its churches “to engage fully and courageously with the needs of our communities” – and re-imagining our church buildings is named as a vital way of supporting that ambition.

The Cambridgeshire Historic Churches Trust is encouraging such re-imagining and engagement by presenting ten Engage Awards each year for three years (we are in year 2 now) in recognition of good work done in that direction, by churches of any denomination, large or small.

Tomorrow (9th September) is both the national Heritage Open Day (https://www.heritageopendays.org.uk/) and also the annual national Historic Churches Ride, Drive and Stride Day (https://www.camhct.uk/ride/) when lots of us will tour round as many churches as we can raising sponsor money for them and for the Trust,

And tomorrow I will visiting 8 of our 10 winners to present them with their cheques and certificates in person – 2 more to follow on Sunday – and starting to put up a daily blog post telling you about them in turn.

Enjoy their stories, consider doing an Engage project where you worship, and – get out there tomorrow and enjoy our wonderful churches!
