Good afternoon,

Today we bring you the latest planning stories from across Lancashire.

We've got news on the new railway station for suburban Preston which has rolled closer into view after a planning application for the facility was formally submitted.

Next up, plans to build a new housing estate on a site that was once occupied by a South Ribble school have been put on hold over fears that they could worsen flooding in the area.

Elsewhere, a new Lidl store and more than 300 homes are on their way to Penwortham after councillors gave the go-ahead to a development which will see a once-popular pub demolished.

And the future of a 1,100-home development could hinge on contentious road-related issues including how traffic generated by the development might affect journey times on existing routes.

Thanks for reading,

Julia

The potential impact on the roads of plans to build 1,100 new homes in Penwortham looks likely to be pivotal in the decision over whether the properties ever see the light of day.
