News Alert

The federal Economic Development Administration just announced another $210 million in funding for Tech Hubs — notably leaving Philadelphia and Baltimore off the list, again. The second round of money went to six regional projects across the country, building on the $500 million it gave to 12 hubs last summer.

The two mid-Atlantic cities, whose hubs both involve life sciences, got some cash to work with after they didn't get the first round of funds. They both received $500,000 consortium accelerator awards last year to continue administrative work.

A senior administration official who declined to speak on the record said there will not be additional funding similar to those grants any time soon because the funds are intended to cover two years of financial support.
