House passes $4.5 billion in emergency funding to help alleviate crisis at the southern U.S. border

Tuesday’s 230-195 vote sets up a showdown with the Republican-led Senate as some Democrats said the veto threat from the White House was nothing more than a bluff and that they could use the House bill to negotiate additions, coming to a compromise that would appease both chambers.
