Wade decision that legalized abortion, dies at 69 | When she filed suit in 1970, McCorvey was not looking for a sweeping ruling for all women but simply the right to legally and safely end a pregnancy that she did not wish to carry forward. The Supreme Court ruled 7 to 2 in 1973 that the constitutional right to privacy includes the choice to terminate a pregnancy.
