Young rider, Sam Oomen, saw a strong week of racing at Tirreno Adriatico culminate by winning the jersey for best young rider. At the race to support Tom Dumoulin, Oomen found himself near the head of the peloton on the two tougher days of racing and consequently sat in the top 10 on GC going into the final time trial. A good performance there was enough for him to keep the white jersey safe along with his top 10 placing overall.
