Olympic Partners vital in the delivery of Olympic Agenda 2020
The IOC Session heard reports on how collaborations with Olympic partners across areas such as sustainability, technology, youth engagement, and athlete support is proving critical in delivering Olympic Agenda 2020.
An important part of the implementation of Olympic Agenda 2020 for the Olympic Games is Games Management 2020, which comes out of Recommendation 12. This project looks at the actual delivery of the Games, and is being worked on by a steering committee led by IOC Vice-President John Coates and composed of representatives of IFs, NOCs and athletes.
As part of the Olympic Agenda 2020 half-time overview, the IOC Session heard a video message from INTERPOL Secretary General Jurgen Stock on how its successful partnership with the IOC has yielded "positive results."
IOC elects former United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to head its Ethics Commission
The IOC elected a new Chair, and elected or re-elected four members of its Ethics Commission during the IOC Session, following a proposal by its Executive Board in July.
IOC launches Olympic Refuge Foundation in its commitment to support refugees
The IOC launched the Olympic Refuge Foundation, aimed at pursuing the work undertaken throughout the Olympic Movement over recent years to support refugees around the world. The creation of the Foundation is a further major initiative that has emerged from the strong and longstanding partnership between the IOC and the UNHCR.
