Insights from Pamela Thompson A new river... a river of love
You guys are impressive.
This is especially so when you ask insightful questions during our Webinar. Pamela asked about handling her triggered emotions regarding the recent calamities in Minnesota and many Members responded to her.
Later, she wrote me of her insights. You will find them below with my responses in red.

Good Morning Gary - Couple of insights to run by you. Yesterday, during the Webinar, I was taken by surprise - blindsided actually - by how the Minnesota event impacted me on such a visceral level. I avoid the news and the info of what occurred came across my messages unexpectedly.
Insight #1 - how quickly I was triggered and then derailed - thrown back into a place of feeling devastated and helpless. Your and Sherry's input yesterday was helpful in pulling me back and reminding me that my RESPONSE is my point of power. With more reflection/unseen therapist, and a great conversation with my son, I came to understand in a solid way that my role in bringing Peace to the world is to first bring it to me internally - to become Peace - Mahatma Gandhi!
GC COMMENT: Indeed! Devastating events, such as those in Minnesota, are happening non-stop around the globe. They are the expected result from a world filled with seemingly separate people with separate interests and separate beliefs.
Conflicts are thus inevitable. And, with billions of people on the planet, extreme versions of these atrocities are a statistical certainty.
They have been going on for all of recorded history and will continue to do so until we recognize that they are all part of a grand illusion that will vanish when we awaken from this dream to our natural state of Oneness.
We can, of course, get triggered by all of this and become angry, lose sleep, feel helpless, march in protests and try to "right the wrongs" that seem so apparent. In the Minnesota case, the police, National Guard and the US military were all involved, or put on notice, to "right the wrongs" and stop the mayhem by force. Can it work? Sure, at least temporarily. But the river of conflicts will just keep flowing, having only been slowed down by a temporary dam.
Better, I suggest, to focus on how so many of us lovingly come together during these times. We gather to help the injured and provide love in its various forms. In this sense, these calamities provide opportunities to climb our Stairway to Miracles (Oneness) and eventually awaken to a new river... a river of love.
Insight #2 came this morning as Brad and I were watching your video with a psychologist Marion Bilich, who shared her work with Susan who had 17 alter personalities. Even though Marion was highly trained in multiple personalities and 'protocol' of how to deal with them, what she felt and did with Susan was to love each and every 'alter personality' - part of that love involved building a community of support and caring/love for her (specifically with the woman's pastor). What she found is this is what healed the woman.
A light bulb went off in my head listening to this - as a metaphor for the world. Since there is truly only oneness (quantum physics), that we are all connected and a part of that oneness (again quantum physics), yet we believe we are all separate from each other, could it be said that we are all just alter personalities to the oneness and that what we need is love and support to bring us back into wholeness? Starting with the self, - being gentle, kind, accepting, loving, guiding, supporting of the self vs. criticizing, judging, condemning, blaming, rejecting, etc. AND THAT is our work. Because then we become Peace and it radiates out into the world. A tall challenge for sure. However it helps me to feel less powerless, that who I am being matters/contributes to the whole. It's like the ripples in a pond type thing.
GC COMMENT: Beautifully said, Pamela. Great metaphor. The real healing of the world requires each of us "alters" to awaken to our true beauty within. It will take dedication, of course, because we are heavily invested in the dream. But it IS doable and we ARE doing it. OEFT anyone?
Anyway I wanted to share these thoughts/insights with you and wondered what your thoughts were.
Enjoy your day, Pamela
