Federal judge overturns CDC mask mandate for planes, public transit |

|
---|
A federal judge in Florida today struck down the government's mask mandate for planes, trains, and other forms of public transportation. |
---|
|

The ruling said the CDC overstepped its legal authority by imposing the mask requirement and violated “the procedures required for agency rulemaking.” |

It comes just days after the CDC said it was extending the federal travel mask mandate for 15 days, until May 3. |
---|
|
---|
The Justice Department declined immediate comment on whether it would seek to block the judge’s order. The CDC, FAA, and TSA said they are evaluating their options. |
