| View in browser December 18, 2020 As more and more of America turns into news deserts, with local newspapers shuttered or limping along with a severely reduced newsroom, local TV news is the main source of information that millions of people have about their community. It's unfortunate, then, that as NBC News reported, anti-vaccine activists have figured out how to use local stations to spread misleading claims.
There are not two sides to this debate, Hayes Brown writes in his latest essay. The journalists at these TV stations owe it to the people they serve to not let themselves be duped into spreading this kind of nonsense.
