The Human Roots of Rising Fascism

TL;DR The rise of fascism in the US and Europe is driven by deep-seated human needs for comfort, significance, and belonging in the face of rapid change. Read More.

Fascist movements are gaining traction and influence in the United States and across Europe. To understand this trend, we must look beyond the rhetoric and policies of individual politicians or parties and examine the deeper human needs and seismic societal shifts fueling this political movement.

At the most fundamental level, all humans crave comfort and significance. We seek predictability, status, respect, and the security of belonging within a community that shares our values. For many, particularly those in demographics that have historically held societal power, these psychological needs were long met by traditional social hierarchies and cultural norms. Hindenburg disaster

The Hindenburg disaster occurred on May 6, 1937, when the German airship Hindenburg caught fire and was destroyed during its attempt to dock at the Naval Air Station Lakehurst in New Jersey. 36 people died, including 13 passengers and 22 crew members on board, and one ground crew member. The cause of the fire is believed to have been a combination of factors, including a spark from static electricity, a leaking gas valve, and the flammable coating on the airship's exterior. The disaster marked the end of the era of airship travel and had a significant impact on the public's perception of air travel.

What Do You Think Will Happen To TikTok?

The US recently passed legislation that could ban TikTok in the US unless ByteDance sells the company. What do you think the outcome will be?

ByteDance will fight this in court and win. The ban is unconstitutional.
BtyeDance will fight in court but will likely lose.
TikTok will be sold to a different company but ByteDance will keep the algorithm.
TikTok will not be sold and it will leave the US market.
