Good morning and thanks for joining us. Here are some of the day's top headlines. Checking in with the chief: It's been six months since Anne Kirkpatrick became New Orleans' top cop. Missy Wilkinson spoke with the new superintendent and others about her leadership style, what the department has accomplished and what remains to be done. Carr's heir? The New Orleans Saints had a lot of daylight between their second and third picks in the NFL draft, but when it came time to make the 150th selection, the team turned a lot of heads by taking a quarterback many felt should have already been snapped up. Matthew Paras has the story. The team also grabbed a Texas linebacker, a receiver named Bub and tackles on both sides of the ball. Jazz Fest continues: Jazz Fest Saturday saw an array of headliners — country superstar Chris Stapleton, R&B belter Fantasia and indie rock band Vampire Weekend, as Keith Spera reports. What's on tap for Sunday? Keith and Ian have you covered. And you'll find all of our festival coverage here. Thanks for reading, and check out all the latest news, sports and entertainment coverage from The Times-Picayune. Chad |
