Neuralink volunteer using thought to control PC mouse, Elon Musk says

 

Neuralink co-founder Musk offered an update on the progress of the human volunteer on Tuesday

 

A human volunteer implanted with Neuralink’s brain technology is now able to control a computer mouse merely through thought, Musk said in an update reported by CNBC.

Musk said the unnamed volunteer “seems to have made a full recovery with no ill effects that we are aware of, and is able to control the mouse, move the mouse around the screen, just by thinking.”

It’s hoped that Neuralink’s technology could one day help people with paralysis, but some scientists have expressed concern about the work, claiming Neuralink should be more transparent.

Members of a bioethics think tank have criticized Musk's style of “science by press release” and have urged caution when it comes to accepting information on a project from someone with a major financial stake in the research outcome, Popular Science reported ...
