Some people act immediately, some don't. Utilities and other power sector players also need to keep their systems constantly updated. But the potential consequences of their inaction are much larger.

New details have emerged regarding a denial-of-service attack in March against sPower, which bills itself as the United States' largest private owner of operating solar assets. While the cyberattack didn't cause the loss of any generation, it revealed widespread grid weaknesses, analysts say.

Our Spotlight on Cybersecurity, coming out this afternoon, will explore such weaknesses and how they're being addressed for distributed energy, nuclear and other power sector assets, including the role of artificial intelligence.
