| Welcome newcomer: FreeMe We welcome the Horizon Europe project FreeMe to the NSC community. Under the name "Toxic Free metallization process for plastic surfaces", the project aims revolutionize Plating on Plastics (PoP) by incorporating Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) methods and protocols to eliminate toxic or expensive materials from the PoP process, like hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+) and Palladium (Pd), implementing innovative surface metallization technologies that involve less hazardous etching systems or spraying of bio-based epoxy resins (instead of Cr6+) and use of nickel salts instead of Pd as activation sites. Read more here. |

| Register now for the NSC-PLANETS workshop on SSbD scenarios! The NSC workshop on “SSbD scenarios for advanced and incremental innovations” will take place on 23 June 2025 (12:00-15:00h CEST, online) as a collaboration effort among several EU-funded projects, led by EU funded project PLANETS! Not all innovation scenarios in SMEs and industry are the same. Current JRC SSbD guidance and also PSA / Cefic concepts leave room for tailoring the SSbD approach within a tiered framework. Scenarios support the tailoring, such that SSbD is not just another burden, but increases overall competitiveness. But ... How should one describe a scenario? Come to the workshop and learn about it! Registration and more information here. |
