Due to the March 15th CDC recommendations regarding COVID-19, PTW20 has been postponed to later this year (this is not canceled).
| | Dear Friend: As you may be aware, the Technical.ly team has been closely monitoring the status of COVID-19. While we have been rapidly working to address moving forward with the event, we also have been internally discussing contingency plans for the 10th annual Philly Tech Week should we need to postpone. As of March 15, 2020, the CDC recommends that no gatherings of more than 50 people are held for the next 8 weeks, which would include Philly Tech Week’s original dates (May 1-May 9, 2020). | Given this restriction, we will be postponing (not canceling!) Philly Tech Week for a later date this year. We have a few target dates in mind and will be in touch soon with further communications around those, but we wanted to reach out to our community to share this update sooner than later. Your health and safety are our highest priority, and we remain firmly committed to delivering exceptional events and opportunities for building better companies and communities. |
| Inside the PTW20 Event Planning Room Like so many others during this time, the Technical.ly Media team has strived to balance the interests of public health, their organization, and their community. Here we discuss the challenge of navigating planning for a much-loved annual event, in the midst of a pandemic. 🔊 Listen to and read the transcript from last Friday's internal meeting |
We deeply appreciate your continued interest in being a part of helping grow Philly Tech Week into this year’s 10th annual success. While we are deeply disappointed to postpone, we know this is for the greater good and remain committed as ever to helping the tech community and local organizations grow. We’ll do our best to keep you updated in real-time via our newsletters, websites, and social channels. You are welcome to share this information with anyone you think may be interested in the event. Additionally, please join our PTW20 Town Hall on April 6 where we will have a more comprehensive update. | |
We’ll leave you with one silver lining our team has found: this postponement is absolutely an opportunity to do something bigger, better and more effective for our community. We are proud to count you as a partner and champion in that mission. If you have any questions or concerns before the town hall please reach out to events@technicallymedia.com. Stay safe and healthy friends, Christopher Wink + the organizers of Philly Tech Week |
