Sept. 22, 2021 Authorities say a sheriff’s deputy drove his car into and wounded a man after the man allegedly fired twice into the vehicle on a suburban street in Mounds View Wednesday morning. The Ramsey County Sheriff’s office said that one of its squads was responding to a report of a felony domestic assault involving gunfire at the AmericInn by Wyndham nearby. A deputy spotted the suspect a short distance away, and a statement from the sheriff’s office said the man opened fire and hit the squad as it approached. Minneapolis Public Schools are closing the doors and sending kids home from Edison High School, due to what the district calls a significant exposure of students to COVID-19. School officials say they don't think the number of students with COVID was large, but exposure was widespread because of students moving through school halls. The district is contacting students at greatest risk. District officials say Edison is shifting to distance learning through October 5, with kids back in classrooms the next day.
