Good Afternoon John As we celebrate Thanksgiving, I choose to celebrate the spirit of gratitude. Here are three quick thoughts. Practice Gratitude Daily Each morning, I write at least three reasons I am grateful. It is really tough to stick to three reasons, but I try not to get carried away and fill up the entire page. I realize that there are so many things I take for granted that other people would give anything to have – health, mobility, the ability to take care of myself, my awesome head of hair. (Okay, perhaps not the hair, but you get the point.) Do you keep a gratitude journal? Practice Gratitude In Advance How strong is your faith? There are things you are praying for, visualizing and working towards. Do you really believe those things will come to pass? If you do, shouldn’t you be grateful for them now? Try practicing gratitude in advance. On your gratitude list, include the desires of your heart. Practice Gratitude – No Matter What “What are you grateful for with this situation?” A friend taught me this question, and it has changed my life. I have it taped to my monitor so that I don’t ever forget it. When I face life’s inevitable disappointments, when things don’t go the way I plan, asking this question helps me put things in perspective. In closing, I wish you and your loved ones a safe Thanksgiving filled with laughter and love.
