On KQED this month: ‘Sammy Davis Jr: I’ve Gotta Be Me,’ ‘Charley Pride: I’m Just Me,’ ‘Margaret: The Rebel Princess’ and more
| Dear Readers, There are so many excellent documentaries to watch on KQED this February — many coinciding with Black History Month. Watch the trailers here! Sammy Davis Jr. had an incredible career that spanned film, TV, theater and music, yet few knew the pain he lived with as he felt rejected by both black and white America. Another trailblazer, Charley Pride, is the subject of a new documentary that traces his humble beginnings as a sharecropper's son to a country music superstar. There's more inspiration in the form of the rebellious Princess Margaret, whose bohemian ways rocked the British royal family in the swinging '60s. Happy watching, Whitney Phaneuf Editor, On KQED |

| Stanford Health Care | Yolanda Ishaq was the first heart transplant recipient to have a child at Stanford Health Care. Today, that “child” is 27 years old, with children of her own—Yolanda’s grandchildren. Yolanda went on to have a second heart transplant and a kidney transplant. “Stanford has saved my life twice,” she says. “They’ve also given my daughter life. I wouldn’t have my grandson or second grandchild. Three generations would not be here.” Learn more about Yolanda and Stanford’s transplant program at www.StanfordHealthCareNow.org. |
