Dear Cruise Critic family,
March 13 marks a significant anniversary for travel and cruise lovers: a full year with no cruising. The loss of travel is insignificant when compared with the impact the pandemic has made on the lives and health of so many worldwide. And yet, cruising brings such joy to us. We hear so often from you, our readers, telling us how much you miss your favourite cruise lines and ships, your beloved travel companions and crew who have become an extended part of your families, and just how excited you are about the resumption of sailing.
This has been a time of growth and learning for us all, and we have reason for optimism about cruising's return. Throughout this year-long pause, cruise lines have been working to implement protocols designed to keep guests safe and healthy once they're back onboard. They've resumed successful sailings in places like Italy and Singapore. They're working with ports and destinations, as well as government bodies like the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and to ensure a responsible resumption.
This week, Cruise Critic looks back at everything we've learned over the past year, where we are today and what's in store for the future. Like you, we're anxious to see cruising's safe return. We hope that time is coming soon, because we can't wait to see you back onboard.
