Greetings , OPTC Board Newsletter – August 2021 Court #4 Fence Damage Unfortunately, a termite-infested tree had major branches that fell on the south end of Court #4 earlier this month. Fortunately, it fell overnight when no one was on-court. We are thankful and blessed that the damage occurred while the Club was closed. We have filed an insurance claim, and we are obtaining quotes from fence contractors to make the necessary repairs at the end of the season (so we minimize impact to the playability of Courts 3 and 4). |

Collegiate Invitational coming to OPTC on September 10th & 11th OPTC is excited to host this annual Collegiate Invitational again. There will be eight teams competing in the event, and this year's group includes: NIU, UIC, ISU, EIU, SLU, Xavier, Youngstown St., and Washington University. Many of the teams will want to practice on Thursday afternoon as they arrive in town. RFTC courts will be used first, and a team or two may use OPTC as needed on Thursday, Sept. 9th. On Friday Sept. 10th and Saturday Sept. 11th, OPTC will provide several courts for morning warm-ups from 8-9 a.m., and once play gets underway (~9:15am each day), OPTC will host five courts of play throughout these two days. The teams will play their doubles matches on Friday morning, and then a round of singles will be played throughout the afternoon. On Saturday, they'll play a round of singles in the morning, and then play their final round of singles throughout Saturday afternoon. Please come out and view some great college tournament play!! |

Clubhouse Foundation Leveling In follow-up to our detailed description of the Clubhouse foundation issues from last month, we have engaged a structural contractor, and we will begin the Clubhouse southwest corner structural repairs once the Cook County Permit is approved (and after the Forest Preserve lowers the soil level to the appropriate height along the west side of the Clubhouse). We have the funds available within our Capital Improvement account, so no fundraising is needed for this critical foundation repair. |

SW corner gathering and Bike Rack area upgrade The OPTC Board is continuing to assess the southwest corner space, with plans to clean, resurface, and reorganize the space for more robust social-gathering and bike storage. As you may have seen, the 3 trees in this area have been “marked” by the Forest Preserve. Two trees are scheduled to be cut down, and the third (overhanging Court 1) will be trimmed and pruned this season. We are gathering quotes from local landscape companies, and we are analyzing various designs to best utilize the space. |

Get Out and Play! OPTC friends, while many of us have children now heading back to school, and while the sun is setting earlier, there is still plenty of tennis to play, so we look forward to continuing our OPTC activities as we enter the fall months! |
