| TRIBUTE TO WOLGANG SCHÄUBLE | 22/01/2024 A key figure in the peaceful reunification of Germany, Wolfgang Schäuble, former German minister and President of the Bundestag, passed away on 26 December. He was one of the Foundation's friends, and a member of its Board of Trustees, which hosted him on several occasions in Paris. Jean-Dominique Giuliani described him as "the most European of Germans". A national memorial ceremony was paid to him on 22 January in Berlin. | Read the article |

| Results of the first round of the presidential election in Finland | 29/01/2024 On 28 January, former Prime Minister and National Coalition Party candidate Alexander Stubb and former Foreign Minister and Green Party member Pekka Haavisto came out ahead in the first round of the Finnish presidential election, with 27.21% and 25.8% of the vote respectively. The turnout was 71.53%. They will face each other in a second round of voting on 11 February. | Read the article |

| Map of European recovery plans | In response to the economic and social consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, the European Union has set up a €672.5 billion recovery fund, known as the "Recovery and Resilience Facility", to be used by Member States in the form of grants and loans. | Women in Europe | Europe is the continent of women, but progress still has to be made. To illustrate the place of women in European politics, society and the economy, the Foundation has produced a map and three tables showing the number of women in governments, national parliaments and the European Parliament, taking stock of the many elections in 2023. | Read the study |

| Franco-German round table on Europe | 30/01/2024 On 30 January, the Mouvement Européen Paris and the Young Europeans organised a Franco-German round table, moderated by Pascale Joannin, Managing Director of the Foundation.
