Is the banking crisis back? 20/03/2023 The recent failure of several US banks and the difficulties of Credit Suisse have been accelerated by the rise in interest rates which increases risk. For Olivier Perquel, debate is opening up regarding the measures that the authorities should take to reduce the risk, and also concerning the extent of the looming crisis. However, a change in monetary policy is unlikely because of the high inflationary risk. |

Fifth legislative elections in two years in Bulgaria 20/03/2023 As the country faces a political crisis preventing the formation of stable government coalitions, Bulgarians are being called to the polls on 2 April for the fifth time in two years to elect 240 members of the National Assembly. According to the latest opinion poll, the coalition formed by Let's Continue the Change and Democratic Bulgaria is forecast to win 20.9% of the vote, narrowly ahead of GERB with 20.4%. The Movement for Rights and Freedoms, representing the Turkish-speaking minority, is expected to get 13.3% of the vote, Revival, a nationalist and pro-Russian party, 11.8%, and the Socialist Party (BSP), 6.6%. |

Liberal parties win and populists lose in Estonian parliamentary elections 06/03/2023 The Reform Party (Liberal) of outgoing Prime Minister Kaja Kallas won the Estonian parliamentary elections on 5 March with 31.2% of the vote and 37 seats in parliament, ahead of the right-wing populist party EKRE (16.1% and 17 seats), the Centre Party (15.3%, 16 seats) and the Eesti 200 party (Liberal, 13.3%, 14 seats). Kaja Kallas will most likely be re-elected... but with which coalition? Answer by the end of the month. |

Map of European recovery plans In response to the economic and social consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, the European Union has set up a €672.5 billion recovery fund, called the "Recovery and Resilience Facility", to be used by Member States in the form of grants and loans. The Foundation offers an interactive map of the plans country by country, to find out the amounts, timetables and priorities. |

It develops research on the European Union and its policies and promotes the content of these in France , Europe and abroad.
