Every December, Canadian Geographic’s editor-in-chief Aaron Kylie chooses his favourite maps from the year’s six issues. This is our fifth such roundup and it includes amazing visual storytelling from our cartographer Chris Brackley, including a celebration of the St. Lawrence Seaway, an in-depth look at the importance of permafrost, and a beautiful visual comparison of Canada’s largest lakes by surface area. We hope your inner map geek enjoys scrolling through these as much as we did collecting them!

There are just a couple of days left to enter Canadian Geographic’s Annual Photo Competition! We’re looking for your best shots of Canadian flora and fauna, iconic landscapes, urban scenes, wild weather and people getting active outdoors.
