Master Plan Reality Check for Fairland and Friendship Heights Presented to Planning Board on February 23

The Montgomery County Planning Department presented an update to the ongoing Master Plan Reality Check to the Planning Board on Thursday, February 23, 2017. This analysis focused on two plans, the 1997 Fairland Master Plan and 1998 Friendship Heights Sector Plan. It follows the study of the 1989 Germantown Master Plan, which was selected as a pilot project based on data availability and other factors.

Montgomery Modern Exhibit

An exhibit on mid-20th-century modern architecture in Montgomery County will be open on March 1 at the Montgomery County Planning Department offices (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD).  Featuring the stunning photographs of Carol M. Highsmith, the exhibit is based on staff preservationist Clare Lise Kelly's award-winning book, Montgomery Modern: Modern Architecture in Montgomery County, 1930-1979, published by the Planning Department.  The Montgomery Modern book is available for sale at the Information Counter on the second floor of the Planning Department.
Parks and Recreation of the Future: Voice Your Vision

"Parks and Recreation of the Future: Voice Your Vision" is a consolidated outreach initiative to solicit input from people about what they want in their parks. The responses will be used to inform three separate but related projects all seeking public input: 2017 PROS Update, the Energized Public Spaces Functional Master Plan (EPS FMP) and Capital Improvements Program (CIP). Make time to take a survey and help us make our parks better!
