Did you know… A child dies of malnutrition every 11 seconds. Despite being entirely preventable, malnutrition claims 3 million lives each year. Globally, 150 million children suffer from stunted growth and development due to chronic lack of adequate food and essential nutrients. Currently, 45 million children suffer from wasting, the most severe form of malnutrition.
At Food for the Hungry (FH), we are working to change this. Inspired by our Christian faith, we walk alongside some of the world's most vulnerable people, joining with them to fight poverty, hunger, and malnutrition. Food for the Hungry works in places like Kenya, where a devastating drought has left 4.4 million people in need of immediate assistance, and nearly 1 million children requiring treatment for acute malnutrition. Read the latest from Alex Mwaura, FH’s Kenya Country Director, as he shares about their work providing vital health and nutrition services, as well as clean water, to vulnerable Kenyan families. |
