Pastoring in a Time of Division | Pastoring is tough even during the best of times. There are always cranky parishioners to deal with, demanding board members please. There are hurting people to comfort, and of course, there’s that one person who waits in the foyer to tell you what was wrong with your sermon. But we’re not in normal times. We’re still dealing with a pandemic and an increasingly polarized country. And sadly, this acrimony has seeped into the church, turning Christians against each other, and tearing apart congregations. Reading the latest about the attempted takeover at McLean Bible Church, where David Platt pastors, was a grim reminder of this reality. Please pray for this church and the many other churches dealing with similar issues. Also, check out our resource on Health and Wholeness for Church Leaders. This 19-page resource offers wisdom and practical tips tending to your own spiritual, emotional, and physical health. |
