A show of support for Mandina's: Just days after a shooting claimed the life of 23-year-old employee Hilbert Walker III and injured a diner, Mid-City's Mandina's restaurant reopened to a wave of support from longtime patrons. Matt Sledge talked to the restaurant and guests, as well as criminal justice analysts about the prevalence of the targeted shootings that have plagued the city in recent years. A 'monumental' task for Hutson: Sheriff Susan Hutson came to office a year ago as a reformer pledging to fix nagging problems with the city jail. But after the abysmal failure of her property tax proposal at the polls, observers say she has a lot of work to do to rally public support necessary to restore confidence and effect change. Tax credits for film industry advance: The state House of Representatives passed a controversial bill that would extend tax credits for the film industry for another 10 years, but not before tacking on an amendment that would lessen the benefits enjoyed by the studios, which do much of their work in New Orleans.
